CNIE Conference 2008
The Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE) is proud to present its inaugural conference April 27-30, 2008, in Banff, Alberta. Created in 2007, CNIE is the result of a merger of the Canadian Association for Distance Education (CADE) and the Association for Media and Technology in Education (AMTEC).
CNIE strives to:
- Advance the use of technology in all educational settings including distributed learning, open/distance education and institutional contexts at all levels, and
- Promote research into the theory and practice of distributed, distance and other technology-enhanced learning.
Presentations are invited that will inspire participants to reach new heights as they work toward these goals. More details regarding the Call for Proposals may be found on the conference website: http://www.athabascau.ca/CNIE-RCIE/english/program/
The deadline for the Call for Proposals is January 15th, 2008.
2008 Illinois Online Conference
The 6th Annual Illinois Online Conference (IOC) for Teaching & Learning will be held February 13-15, 2008. This online event will feature dozens of presentations by and for K-20 professionals.
Keynote Sessions this year span both 3-D virtual *and* physical learning spaces. Julian Lombardi of Duke University will explore Croquet, an open environment for creating collaborative virtual worlds for learning, while Rachel Gutter, the School Sector Manager of the US Green Building Council, will focus on making our ground-based learning more eco-friendly and sustainable. In addition, several IOC 2008 sessions and networking events will be held in 3-D spaces like Second Life and Qwaq Forums.
There is still time to submit your proposal to speak at IOC 2008. Details are available at ilonlineconf.org. Group rates are also available.

One session in particular that caught my eye is the session entitled, “Studywiz: A Big Platform in a Small World”. I hope to download the mp3 file of that session to listen as well as several of the others as well. It looked like it was a great conference. Anyone who attended, feel free to comment with your reflections.
Free Online Conference - Corporate Learning: Trends and Innovations
Thanks to a link from Nancy White, I just came across the free online conference “Corporate Learning: Trends and Innovations” that is currently underway.
- An exciting opportunity for corporate leaders, directors, CLOs, trainers, and consultants to discuss the directions and innovations in corporate learning.
- A free online conference, running from November 15-20, 2007. World renowned speakers will present live (all sessions will be recorded). Of greatest value, we feel, will be the opportunity for attendees to engage in dialog with each other through online forums - forming connections and exchanging ideas and visions on corporate learning.
- A different kind of conference experience with many opportunities for active participation for attendees who wish. All sessions will be recorded and available within a few minutes after the session for people who cannot attend at that time.
At first glance, this looks to be a great online event. If I am able to make sufficient progress on wrapping-up my dissertation, I may be able to check out a few of the sessions. Complete details on the conference and to register, visit http://www.complexive.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
