16 September, 2006 (15:44) | Conference Proceedings, Conferences

Terry Anderson posted this wrap-up of the PLE panel session at ALT-C in Edinburgh. He points out in his summary of the issues surrounding the deployment of personal learning environments (PLE’s) complexity and challenge of adoption for educators (and computer services support staff) who try to move from the familiar VLE world to the scary world of PLE’s.

One small group during the session developed this diagram to depict the necessity in a PLE for various creation, communication and collaboration tools, as well as specialized tools relevant to individual users and various aides to reflection, problem solving etc. These tools link, via ubiquitous connectivity, agents and appropriate protocols to content, expertise, mentors, assessment and credentialing.
